What Angels Are Believed to Be in Spiritual Understanding

Angels are generally described as higher spiritual beings that have never lived a human life. Unlike loved ones in Spirit, angels are not connected to families, relationships, memories, or shared human experiences. Because of this, they do not communicate in the same way as Spirit communicators. Mediumship is based on human experience and recognition, while angels are believed to operate on a broader, non-human level.

What Mediumship Really Involves

Mediumship is the communication between the living and those who have lived a physical life and have now crossed into Spirit. This communication is evidence-led and personal. My Perspective as a Psychic Medium

From my standpoint as a working psychic medium, I do not actively work with angels during mediumship. My connection is direct with Spirit communicators, not angelic beings. People have messaged me saying they were shocked, relieved, reassured, confused — and in many cases, comforted that the idea that a professional medium doesn’t have (or doesn’t use) a spirit guide challenged something they had been taught for years.

So I  want to expand on this topic properly.

Some readers asked, “Does this mean I don’t have one either?”
Others said, “I’ve never felt a guide… and now I feel less alone.”
And a few said, “Maybe I’ve been talking to myself all this time.”

This post is to clear up my standpoint — and hopefully give you permission to trust your own experience rather than chasing something you’re told you must have.

Spirit Guides: A Popular Teaching, But Not a Universal Truth

For decades, spiritual and mediumship circles have taught that everyone has a main guide, usually from a different era or culture, assigned to them for life who provides help, protection or information.

It sounds mystical, powerful and comforting.

But mediumship isn’t a factory.
There is no standard blueprint.

Some people genuinely experience a guide.
Some experience something more symbolic.
Some experience nothing at all.
And many believe they have a guide simply because they were told they should — not because they’ve ever clearly experienced one.

That doesn’t make anyone wrong.
It just means the spiritual experience isn’t identical for everyone.

Many Mediums Think They Have a Guide, But Are Really Hearing Their Internal Dialogue

This part needs saying, even though few will admit it:

Many people mistake their internal voice for a spirit guide.

Internal dialogue can be: comforting, wise, directional, intuitive, insightful, familiar…and still be your own subconscious, not a separate being.

There is nothing wrong with that.
In fact, tuning into your inner wisdom can be incredibly powerful.

I’ll be writing a full post on internal dialogue later, but for now, I just want to introduce the idea that:

You might think your guide is speaking to you — when actually, you’re speaking to yourself in a deeper, more intuitive way.

And that is absolutely valid.

My Position: I Don’t Work With a Guide — But Let’s Be Fair… The Opposite Could Also Be True

I’ve always said that I don’t have a spirit guide.
I don’t feel one.
I don’t see one.
I don’t call on one.
And I don’t pass messages through a middleman.

My mediumship works directly, clearly and naturally without one.

But — and I want to be completely fair here — it’s also possible that I do have a guide and simply don’t realise it.

Some mediums experience guides as a constant presence.
Some mediums hear a name, see an image, or feel a personality.
Some mediums don’t consciously detect their guide at all.

It’s entirely possible a guide helps me without presenting themselves in a way I recognise.

Maybe their influence is subtle.
Maybe they step aside because my connection is direct.
Maybe they simply don’t interfere.
Or maybe my awareness doesn’t label them as a guide — so I assume they aren’t there.

The point is:

Not having evidence of a guide doesn’t automatically mean you don’t have one.
And having a guide-like experience doesn’t automatically mean you do.

Working Without a Guide — And Why It Works For Me

When I connect with Spirit, the communication is direct, unfiltered, immediate, and natural.

I don’t feel the need to insert another presence into the process.

Some mediums prefer the structure of a guide.
Some use it for protection.
Some use it for confidence.
Some use it as a way to organise their connection.

For me, a guide would feel like an unnecessary extra step.
But again — that’s my way of working.
Not the universal way.

Mediumship evolves differently for every person.

So… Do YOU Really Have a Spirit Guide?

Here’s the most honest answer:

You might have one.
You might not.
You might think you have one but are actually hearing your intuition.
Or you might have one and not realise it — just like I might.

What matters is not the label.
What matters is how you connect.

You are not less spiritual if you don’t feel a guide.
You are not “behind” in your development.
You are not lacking something.
You are not blocked.

You are simply experiencing Spirit in your own unique way.

And that is exactly how it should be.

Final Thought: Your Connection Is Yours — Not Tradition’s

Tradition has made spirit guides seem compulsory.
But spirituality isn’t a checklist.
Mediumship isn’t a script.
And the Spirit world doesn’t follow human rules.

Whether you work with a guide, without one, or aren’t sure, your mediumship is still entirely valid.

You don’t have to force it.

  A research medium is someone accused of gathering information about sitters before a reading or live demonstration. Not psychically, not spiritually — but through: social media profiles, public posts, online memorials, old photos, comments sections, hashtags, friends lists, online obituaries, and even event RSVPs and ticket names.

This is not mediumship.
This is data collection dressed up as intuition.

And it doesn’t take much effort. In today’s world, you can learn someone’s entire family history, relationship status, bereavements and pet names just by scrolling their profile for five minutes.

Yet on stage, this manufactured knowledge gets presented as “psychic evidence,” and the public — unaware of the tactics — often fall for it.

The Tactics Research Mediums Are Accused of Using

Let’s break them down clearly:

Pre-Show Facebook & Instagram Searches

Mediums check the names of people attending shows, look through their profiles and memorise key details.

Scanning Tribute Posts

If someone has posted about a loved one’s passing, the medium suddenly “brings through” the exact details.

Studying Public Comments

People unknowingly hand over evidence in comment threads.
A research medium simply reads, memorises and repeats it back later.

Looking at Who Liked Certain Posts

Friends, relatives, co-workers — all become potential targets.

Using TikTok Lives to Gather Information in Real Time

This is a new trick:
Viewers comment, share details, tell their story — and five minutes later the medium “magically” picks them out with those exact details.

Fishing Questions Disguised as Evidence

A classic technique:
Give a vague statement, wait for the sitter to react, then expand it into something that sounds psychic.

These tactics are clever, calculated and increasingly common — especially on social media platforms where people willingly expose every detail of their lives.

The Problem: It Looks Real — Too Real

This is where the danger lies.
A research medium appears perfect.
Accurate.
Fast.
Instant.

Every message is “spot on.”
Every detail hits.
Every connection looks supernatural.

And that is exactly why this damages mediumship.

When the public sees flawless readings delivered with unnatural speed, they assume: truly gifted mediums should all work like this, if you don’t read like this, you must be less gifted, perfect = genuine, slower, and more natural readings = weak evidence.

In reality, the opposite is often true.

Real mediumship contains pauses, emotions, moments of confusion, communication issues, energy fluctuations and human imperfection. It’s authentic. It’s raw. It’s not a rehearsed script.

Perfection is a red flag — not proof.

The TikTok Battleground: Mediums Publicly Accusing Each Other

This is where things get messy.

TikTok has become a war zone for mediums accusing each other of fakery, hot reading, staged videos and research-based readings. It’s no longer private whispers behind closed doors. It’s full public drama.

One example often brought up by TikTok creators is Psychic Medium Dean, who has been heavily accused online by numerous TikTokers of researching people’s social media before giving readings. Again — and this is crucial — these are accusations, not proven facts. But the sheer volume of videos, critiques and exposés has fuelled enormous controversy.

What happens next?

Mediums begin attacking one another.
Creators jump on the trend for clout.
Audiences become confused and cynical.
The entire field starts to look unstable.

Mediumship becomes entertainment warfare.
TikTok becomes the judge, jury and executioner.

This isn’t spiritual growth — this is chaos.

Why I Avoid TikTok

I try to keep away from TikTok for one very clear reason:

It is not a serious platform for a serious topic like mediumship.

TikTok rewards:, speed, drama, exaggeration, sensationalism, flawless performance, highly emotional reactions, and attention-grabbing “shock” readings.

Mediumship doesn’t belong in 30-second emotional bait clips.
It doesn’t belong in staged reactions.
It doesn’t belong in a platform that encourages “instant evidence” culture.

Spirit communication is profound, delicate, meaningful and sacred.
TikTok is chaotic, performative and built for virality — not authenticity.

Mediumship loses integrity the moment it tries to adapt to an environment built on superficial metrics.

The Real Damage Research Mediums Cause

Here’s the truth:

Research mediums aren’t just deceiving audiences — they are destroying trust in the craft.

Because when these mediums get exposed, the public doesn’t say:
“That medium was fake.”

They say:
“Mediums are fake.”

All of them.
The good ones.
The honest ones.
The evidence-based ones.
The ethical ones.

One person’s deceit becomes the downfall of everyone’s reputation.

And that is why this problem must be addressed openly.

Why I Work the Way I Do

This is where I stand:

I will not research you.
I will not stalk your Facebook.
I will not study your TikTok comments.
I will not memorise your posts.
I will not manufacture evidence.

My readings come from Spirit — not social media.

And if that means I’m not “perfect”?
Good.
Real mediumship isn’t.

Not All Spirit Messages Are “Nice” — And That’s the Reality of Genuine Mediumship

Let’s be honest.
Real mediumship is not all hearts, flowers and perfect apologies. Some people in Spirit were blunt, difficult or abrasive when they were alive — and guess what? They can present in the same energy when they come through.

That might mean:

a personality that isn’t warm

a tone that is direct or abrupt

memories that aren’t easy to revisit

an absence of apology or accountability

or a message that challenges you emotionally

And this is where my responsibility as a medium becomes important.

The Line I Draw as a Professional Medium

As a psychic medium, I always honour the truth of the message — but I also honour the dignity of the sitter.

That means I do not deliver:

explicit content

deeply personal or private information that could embarrass the sitter

degrading remarks

foul language

abusive behaviour presented as “a message”

Spirit brings emotion, truth and honesty — but cruelty does not pass my platform, ever.

However, if a difficult communicator steps forward with a genuine message — even if it’s not wrapped in warmth — I will generally pass on what is said, with care and clarity.

Mediumship is not just about comfort; it is about connection, truth and understanding.

Checking Consent Before Sharing Sensitive or Public Messages

In private readings, I can deliver the message gently and respectfully, ensuring the sitter feels safe and supported.

In a public demonstration, however, it becomes more delicate.

If a difficult communicator steps forward on stage, and the message feels sensitive or deeply personal, I will often pause and ask the person receiving the message:

“Would you prefer this privately or publicly?”

This gives them control.

It should be the most obvious thing in the world. If there are places in the UK where people can go — for free or for a small donation — to hear from loved ones who have crossed over, surely those buildings should be overflowing. People should be queueing down the street. The seats should be full. The energy should be alive.

But they aren’t, not anymore, and pretending otherwise is part of the problem.

Spiritualist churches across the UK are struggling. Some are barely surviving. Some are closing quietly. And some exist only because a handful of loyal volunteers refuse to let the doors shut. The question is always the same:

“If mediumship is real, why aren’t people flocking to these churches?”

The answer is uncomfortable — but it needs to be said.

  Mediumship is mainstream in the United States. People can name TV mediums off the top of their heads: Tyler Henry, Theresa Caputo, Matt Fraser, John Edward, Thomas John and many others. Mediumship is visible, normalised, discussed, and part of everyday culture.

In the UK?
There is nothing.
No major series.
No current mainstream names.
No presence in modern media.
Not even a single programme that puts mediumship in front of the next generation.

Most people in Britain have no idea what Spiritualist churches even do. They don’t know:

that demonstrations happen

that it’s open to the public

that it’s affordable

that mediums offer evidence of survival

that it’s not a cult or religion in the traditional sense

that the focus is healing, connection and understanding

Awareness is at rock bottom. And when people don’t know something exists, they don’t walk through the door.

The Perceived Image Is Hurting the Movement

Let’s be honest: Spiritualist churches have an image problem. A big one.

The word “church” itself sends younger people running in the other direction. It carries a heaviness, a formality, and — to many — a sense of outdated ritual. Add in the hymns, the old formats, the lack of modern communication, lack of modern music, and the slightly inward-facing culture, and it becomes clear why the public feels disconnected.

People fear they are stepping into a closed group or cult-like environment. Not because churches actually are cults — they aren’t — but because they look and feel that way from the outside. The branding is wrong. The atmosphere is dated. The connection to modern life is missing.

Mediumship itself is powerful, but the packaging in the UK is decades behind.

The SNU’s Grip on UK Churches Keeps Everything Stuck

This is the part nobody wants to talk about, but it must be addressed.

The Spiritualists’ National Union (SNU) has a fixed, traditional hold over every affiliated Spiritualist church in the UK. And while the SNU has done a great deal historically, its structure is restrictive, slow to adapt, and firmly rooted in the past. Younger mediums don’t relate to it. Younger audiences certainly don’t. And many churches feel they cannot evolve because the SNU demands they follow an old, rigid model that doesn’t work in the modern world.

Mediumship has moved forward.
The world has moved forward.
The SNU has not.

Churches want to grow, modernise, rebrand, try new formats, create fresh experiences — but if they’re SNU-affiliated, they’re tied to rules, expectations and doctrines from a completely different era.

When an entire movement is controlled by an organisation that doesn’t reflect the current world, decline becomes inevitable.

The Format Is Outdated — And People Can Feel It

Younger people expect: modern presentation, clear sound, engaging speakers, relatable mediums, safe, warm, current environments, accessible teaching, welcoming energy, and up-to-date communication styles.

Instead, many churches offer: dim lighting, cold halls, old hymn books, the exact same structure from 40 years ago, rigid order of service, no online presence, no marketing, no contemporary language, and no sense of momentum.

People aren’t rejecting mediumship — they’re rejecting outdated delivery.

COVID Was the Final Blow

Churches were already weakening before COVID, but the pandemic accelerated everything.
People stopped attending.
Volunteers burned out.
Elder audiences didn’t return.
Younger audiences didn’t even know the churches existed.
Some churches closed permanently.
Others reopened to half-empty rooms.

The belief that attendance would “bounce back” was wishful thinking. Without visibility, modern relevance, or structural change, there is nothing to bounce back to.

Mediumship Itself Is Not the Problem — The Presentation Is

People want connection.
People want meaning.
People want to hear from their loved ones.
People want reassurance that life continues.

But they aren’t going to walk into buildings that look forgotten by time.

It’s not optional.

But if the movement refuses to evolve, the doors will continue to close.
