Introduction: A Question I’m Often Asked but Have Never Personally Experienced
One of the questions I hear time and time again is, “Can you connect with animals that have passed?” People form strong emotional bonds with their pets, and the idea of reconnecting with them after they pass is incredibly comforting. Although I have never personally connected with an animal in Spirit during a reading, I’m often asked for my view on the subject. This blog is written from a hypothetical standpoint based on my understanding of mediumship, Spirit communication and the countless stories people have shared with me over the years. I welcome anyone reading this to share their own experiences or thoughts, because this is an area where personal accounts are incredibly valuable.
Do Animals Have Souls That Continue After Passing?
While I haven’t had a direct Spirit communication from an animal myself, the idea that animals have souls is widely believed within the spiritual community. Animals clearly have personalities, instincts, emotions and presence — qualities that many would argue continue beyond physical life. The deep love shared between a human and their pet often feels far bigger than biology alone.
If consciousness survives physical death for humans, many believe the same should apply to animals. Their essence, their energy and their emotional connection may continue in Spirit, even if the way they communicate differs from human Spirit.
How Animal Spirit Communication Is Said to Work
Hypothetically, animals would not communicate in the same way humans do. They wouldn’t speak in words, names or detailed memories. Instead, their communication would likely come through emotion, sensation or imagery. Mediums who say they have connected with animals often describe receiving impressions such as affection, excitement, familiarity or behavioural traits that clearly identify the animal.
Because I haven’t experienced this myself, I can only describe how other mediums report these connections — typically more instinctive, more emotional and less structured than human Spirit communication.
Why Animals Might Come Through
Based on what many people share with me, animals seem to come forward for the same reasons human Spirit communicators do: comfort, reassurance and emotional connection. Pets play enormous roles in people’s lives. For some, losing an animal is one of the deepest heartbreaks they’ve ever known.
If animals do communicate from Spirit, it makes perfect sense that they would want their owners to know they are safe, free from pain and still emotionally connected. Even hypothetically, the intention behind such a connection would mirror that of human Spirit — to bring peace.
Why I Personally May Not Have Experienced It
This is something I’ve reflected on many times. It may be that animals simply don’t communicate through me, just as some mediums never experience certain types of Spirit communication. Mediumship is individual. Not every medium experiences trance, physical phenomena or inspirational speaking — so perhaps animal communication is just one of those things that hasn’t presented itself in my work.
It may also be that animals communicate differently in Spirit, using methods that don’t align with how I receive information. My strongest senses — clairvoyance, clairsentience and clairaudience — might not be the best channels for animal connection. Or perhaps I’ve simply not encountered a moment where an animal needed or chose to come through.
What People Tell Me About Their Own Experiences
I’ve had countless people tell me stories of feeling their pets around them after passing. Some have dream visitations that feel incredibly real. Others hear familiar sounds — the clicking of paws, the rustle of movement, the sensation of a cat jumping on the bed. Some people describe emotional waves that feel connected to their pet.
While I cannot claim these experiences as mediumship communication myself, I absolutely acknowledge the emotional truth people feel when they describe them. These personal accounts matter, because mediumship is ultimately about emotional recognition and connection, not theory.
Could Animals Appear During a Human Spirit Reading?
Hypothetically, yes. It makes sense that if animals remain connected to their owners, they could be brought forward by human Spirit communicators. I haven’t had this happen personally, but I can see the logic behind it. If a family dog was particularly important to someone, Spirit might bring that animal forward as part of the emotional evidence.
Do Animals Stay Connected After They Pass?
While I can’t speak from personal mediumistic experience, everything I know about Spirit communication suggests that emotional bonds continue beyond physical life. If that applies to human relationships, it’s reasonable to believe it could also apply to the bond between humans and animals.
The love we have for animals is uncomplicated and genuine, and many believe that this type of connection absolutely endures in Spirit.
Conclusion: I’ve Never Connected With Animals in Spirit, But I’m Open to Learning
To answer the question: yes, I believe it may be possible for mediums to connect with animals in Spirit — even though I haven’t personally done so. My perspective is hypothetical, based on understanding mediumship, observing other mediums and hearing countless personal stories from those who have felt their pets around them after passing.
Mediumship is a vast, varied experience, and no medium encounters every possible form of Spirit communication. I remain open-minded, respectful and curious. If Spirit communication with animals is something that ever does happen in my work, I will approach it with the same honesty and integrity I apply to everything else.
