Can Anyone Become a Medium?
Can anyone become a medium by Kristian von Sponneck, Psychic Medium & Psychic Entertainer
The question “Can anyone become a medium?” is one I hear often at shows and demonstrations. It’s a question loaded with curiosity, hope, and sometimes disbelief — because deep down, people sense that there must be more to life than the physical world we see. The truth, from my own experience, is both simple and profound: yes, anyone can become a medium — but most of us have been conditioned not to.

We Are All Born Sensitive to Spirit
Every child is naturally intuitive. Children sense energy long before they can name it — they feel atmospheres, know when someone is upset, and often speak of people “standing near them” when no one else can see. This isn’t imagination; it’s unfiltered awareness.
But as we grow, society teaches us to dismiss what cannot be measured. We’re told to be “realistic,” to “stop making things up,” and to value logic over intuition. That conditioning closes a door that was open all along.
Mediumship isn’t something only a chosen few are given; it’s an ability that we all possess to varying degrees. What differs is whether we nurture it or suppress it.
The Conditioning That Closes the Door
From a young age, we learn to prioritise the rational mind. We’re trained to believe only in what we can see, hear, or hold. Religion, science, education, and even fear can all shape us into thinking that Spirit is something “other” — something that happens to special people, not to us.
Over time, this constant reinforcement creates a mental block. We stop noticing the subtle signs, the intuitive nudges, the coincidences that are anything but coincidence. It’s not that Spirit stops speaking — it’s that we stop listening.
When people say to me, “I wish I could see Spirit like you do,” I always reply: “You once could — you were simply taught not to.”
A Single Experience Changes Everything
Something remarkable happens when someone truly experiences Spirit for the first time.
Maybe it’s a dream so vivid you wake up crying.
Maybe it’s a message during a reading that’s too personal to deny.
Maybe it’s the unmistakable feeling that someone you love is standing beside you in the silence.
Whatever form it takes, that moment of connection changes everything. Once you’ve experienced Spirit — even for a second — disbelief falls away. You don’t just “believe” in Spirit anymore; you know.
That knowing reopens the very door that childhood conditioning once closed. The more you accept the possibility, the more you begin to notice Spirit’s subtle communication — in thoughts, sensations, synchronicities, dreams, and emotions that feel borrowed yet familiar.
Belief Is the Gateway, Not the Result
People often say, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”
But in mediumship, it’s the other way around — you see it when you believe it.
Spirit works with our openness. When we approach the unseen world with curiosity rather than fear, we attune to it. It’s not that some people are “psychic” and others are not; it’s that some people have simply stayed open.
Mediumship develops in the same way a muscle does — through use, patience, and understanding. Meditation, sitting in the quiet, learning to trust your intuition, and spending time in compassionate energy all create a bridge between our world and the next.
Spirit Chooses the Language We Can Understand
Each of us has a unique way that Spirit communicates. Some feel it in their body, some see imagery in the mind’s eye, some hear words or sense emotion. None of these are superior; they’re simply languages of energy.
When I first began to experience Spirit without expectation or fear, the communication grew clearer. It was never forced, never dramatic, never theatrical. It simply was. And that’s how Spirit works: gently, respectfully, with love.
The Real Work of a Medium
Becoming a medium isn’t about chasing messages or trying to “see ghosts.” It’s about awareness — tuning the soul like an instrument. The more you refine that awareness, the more harmoniously Spirit can work through you.
It’s also about ethics, compassion, and humility. Mediumship isn’t a performance; it’s an act of service. When we hold space for Spirit to communicate, we’re helping to heal hearts, reaffirm love, and remind people that life continues.
You Can Relearn What You Once Knew
Anyone can become a medium because everyone already is, deep down. The difference lies in whether we remember how to listen.
If you’ve had even one experience that made you stop and think, “That can’t just be coincidence,” then you’ve already glimpsed the truth. That’s how it begins — a quiet nudge from Spirit, gently reminding you that you are not alone and that your soul remembers more than your mind realises.
The conditioning of the modern world can make us forget, but Spirit never gives up on communicating. Once you’ve felt it, you can’t unfeel it. Once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it. Once you’ve known it — you believe. And from that belief, awareness blooms again.
