Are Our Deceased Loved Ones Around Us All the Time?
You Think They Are, But Are They Really
One of the most common and heartfelt questions I am asked as a psychic medium is:
“Are our deceased loved ones around us all the time?”
The answer, in my experience, is yes—they are.
Our loved ones in spirit remain closer than most people imagine. Their love, personality, and energy continue beyond physical life, and they often find ways to show us they’re still here—sometimes in subtle, gentle ways, and sometimes in moments that stop us in our tracks.
Even though we can’t always see them, feel them, or hear them in the way we once did, they are often around us—quietly, lovingly, and constantly—watching over us and guiding us through the rhythm of our everyday lives.
Love Doesn’t End When Life Changes
When someone we love passes away, the physical relationship changes, but the love remains intact.
The bond that connected you doesn’t vanish—it transforms.
Spiritually, love is one of the strongest energies that exists. It transcends space and time, and it’s through that energy that our loved ones stay near. They don’t “go away” or drift into some unreachable place; rather, they become part of a different vibration of life. From that higher frequency, they are able to visit, communicate, and share signs with us in ways that align with our sensitivity and awareness.
I always say during my mediumship shows and private readings: “They don’t leave you—they just move slightly out of reach.”
The Everyday Signs They Send
Spirit communication isn’t always dramatic. In fact, most of the time, it’s subtle—something that only you will recognise.
Our loved ones in spirit use energy and coincidence to draw our attention to their presence. They want to comfort you, to remind you they are still a part of your life.
Here are some of the most common ways they do that:
Dreams That Feel Too Real to Be Dreams
Many people experience vivid dreams where a loved one visits them, speaks to them, or simply appears with a feeling of peace. These aren’t ordinary dreams—they are spirit visits.
You’ll often wake feeling calm, comforted, or filled with emotion. That’s because for a few brief moments, your energy aligned with theirs.
Smells, Scents & Familiar Fragrances
You might suddenly smell your mum’s perfume, your dad’s aftershave, or your grandparent’s favourite tobacco smoke when nobody else is around. Scent is one of the strongest memory triggers, and spirit uses it as a powerful way to say, “I’m here.”
Feathers, Coins, and Small Objects
Feathers appearing in strange places, coins showing up at meaningful moments, or small objects moving unexpectedly are all classic spirit signs. They’re simple, physical symbols placed in your path to get your attention.
Electric Flickers and Music
Spirit can influence energy and frequency. Lights flickering, radios turning on, or meaningful songs playing at the perfect moment are ways they use energy to remind you of their connection.
Animals and Birds Behaving Strangely
Many people notice that certain birds—robins, butterflies, dragonflies—appear repeatedly after a loved one has passed. These are not coincidences. Spirit often uses nature as a gentle, visible reminder that life continues in another form.
Sudden Thoughts and Feelings
Sometimes you’ll feel their presence in a wave of warmth, a sense of calm, or a thought that suddenly enters your mind that feels different from your own. These are intuitive nudges—spirit’s way of saying, “I’m still with you.”
How to Recognise Their Presence
The key to recognising these signs is awareness. Spirit rarely shouts; they whisper. They leave breadcrumbs of energy for you to notice when your mind is still enough to feel them.
If you are constantly distracted, busy, or emotionally overwhelmed, those subtle signals can be easy to miss. But when you take a quiet moment—perhaps while driving, walking, or sitting in stillness—you may suddenly sense that familiar energy beside you.
You might not see them, but you’ll know.
That knowing, that feeling of closeness, is real.
During private readings, I often describe how spirit will blend their energy with yours. It’s not about seeing ghosts—it’s about sensing love.
Why They Stay Around
Our loved ones in spirit don’t watch over us out of duty; they stay because love is part of their soul’s nature.
They are connected to you through memory, through energy, and through the threads of shared experience.
Even as they continue their own journey of learning and spiritual growth, they maintain a presence near you—especially in moments of transition, difficulty, or change. Many clients tell me that during times of crisis, they suddenly feel calm, as though someone invisible placed a hand on their shoulder. That’s how spirit comforts us: quietly, without needing words.
You may also notice that when you speak aloud to them, you receive a sign shortly afterwards. A song lyric, a name, a sudden coincidence—these are all subtle ways of saying, “I heard you.”
Mediumship and Everyday Connection
As a psychic medium, I’m fortunate to witness these connections daily. Whether in a private reading or during one of my public mediumship shows, I see the joy, relief, and healing that come from realising that love truly doesn’t die.
Mediumship is simply a bridge—a way of translating the energy and emotion that spirit conveys into words we can understand. But spirit doesn’t always need a medium to communicate. They reach out to you directly, in your daily life, in ways that only you will recognise.
So even if you never visit a medium or attend a demonstration, trust that your loved ones are still with you. They find their own ways to remind you.
How to Invite More Signs
You don’t need to perform rituals or ceremonies to feel close to those in spirit.
All that’s required is openness and intention.
Here are some simple ways to strengthen your awareness:
Talk to them – Speak naturally, just as you did in life.
Acknowledge signs – When something happens that feels meaningful, say “thank you.” It encourages more.
Create quiet time – Spirit communication happens best when your energy is calm.
Trust your intuition – If you feel it’s them, it is them. Don’t overthink it.
The more you acknowledge these moments, the more frequent and obvious they become.
A Presence That Never Leaves
Yes—our deceased loved ones are with us all the time.
They move between their world and ours effortlessly, guided by love and thought rather than time or distance.
They celebrate your victories, comfort you in loss, and quietly walk beside you when you feel most alone. Sometimes, they bring subtle signs; other times, they simply radiate a presence that warms the space around you.
Even if you can’t see them, they see you.
Even if you can’t hear them, they hear you.
And even if you doubt it, they are still there—just beyond the veil, closer than a heartbeat, whispering reminders that love never ends.
Final Thoughts
So, are our deceased loved ones around us all the time? As someone who works daily with psychic and mediumistic connection, I can say with confidence that spirit communication is not rare—it’s constant. Our loved ones stay near, guiding, loving, and reassuring us in ways that speak directly to our hearts.
They may not walk beside us in physical form, but their energy never fades. Love is eternal—and it is through that love that they remain, always around us, every day. Are our deceased loved ones around us all the time, I believe so.
